SOUTHERN CROSS.
ARRIVAL IX LONDON. RECORD FLIGHT ENDS. London, July 10. The Southern Cross landed at Croydon at 3.20 p.m., and was welcomed by a big crowd. Sir lan Hamilton and many New Zealand - ei's were present. Kingsford Smith said that the log showed' that the flight, occupied exactly twelve days twenty-one hours eighteen minutes from the time they left Derby to the minute they landed. Kingsford Smith expects to remain in England some weeks. So far there affe no plans for the Atlantic crossing. The Southern Cross made a spectacular landing, just grazing the hangars. Hundreds beseiged the flyers. Smith said: “We had lots of minor troubles, but, generally speaking, it was a good flight.” The King sent a message to Lord Thomson, the Air Minister“ Please convey to the four airmen my heart-felt congratulations on their remarkable and successful achievement after all the danger and hardships they have experienced.” The Southern Cross left Richmond, Sydney, for Derby, Western Australia, on 25th June, arriving at. Derby after a flight of 22 hours a minutes. Details of the flight from Derby are as follows: — 27 th June. —Left Derby for Singapore. 28th June. —Arrived at Singapore. 29th June. —Left Singapore and landed ( at Singora, Siam. 30th June. —Arrived at Rangoon, Burma, from Singora. 2nd July.—'Left Rangoon and arrived at Calcutta. 3rd July.—'Flew from Calcutta to Allahabad. 4th July. —‘Flew from Allahabad to Karachi. 6th July—Left Karachi for Basra and Bagdad, Irak. 7th July.—Arrived at Basra from Karachi and flew on to Bagdad. Bth July. —Arrived at Athens from Bagdad. 9th July.—Arrived at Rome. lOt'h July.—Arrived at Croydon.
