♦ ORGANISED GANG AT WORK. Christchurch, July 2. Twelve charges of fraudulently obtaining money by (means of valueless cheques, involving £95, were preferred against James William Webber, ag-etl 22 years, a labourer, in Hie Magistrate’s Court. Webber was also charged that on A lay IS, at Ariekland, he Invoke the terms of tyis release upon probation. b Aoicusedi pleaded guilty ‘on all counts and elected to tie dealt with summarily. The chief delec-tive said that accused had joined up with another man who was caught in New Plymouth, but there was a third man at targe who was really the brains of the combination. The magistrate (Mjr. Levvey): I think I would like you to make a few inquiries into accused’s record and see if he was a dupe. The case was adjourned till Thursday.
