REVIEWS.

“STEAD’S REVIEW. The Australian issue of Stead’s Review" for June is replete with excellent articles and its 'contributors are w’dl qualified to handle the subjects of their choice. Mr. Eggleston’s monthly articles on Federal Politics make clear to constant readers of his magazine the unnoticed, uneonsidered currents that influence’the actions and decisions of Australian Parliaments and politicians. His latest contribution has excellent point. Mr. 'Clapp’s article on Advertising Australia is interesting. Especially so when the writer’s success in advertising on behalf of Victoria’s railways and in managing them is remembered. Mir. (Curtin, member for Prejmantle in Australia’s Federal House, labour man and representative, deals with the recovery and sale of coal in Australia as the labourer vietvs 'the finance of those operations. An illuminative effort. Professor Atlkiinson, whose death in England was announced late last month, discourses about matters of interest in London. Mr. Holland tells of political and other matters of interest in New Zealand and 'Samoa. Adela Pank, hurst handles women's political and other extradomestic activities with effect. Thomas, “Tom” Walsh supplies Ihe truth about Comjmunism with clarity and, judging from the journal’s correspondence columns, to the distaste of his one-time friends and supporters. Space prevents reference to all the contents of this excellent publication but we may mention an interesting sketch of Cooktowm, Queensland; W]ill iCra.ig’s impressions of Oanhcrra; and the very informative “Catechism” page's as well worthy of (readers’ attention. Six shillings sent to the proprietors, 241 William Street, Melbourne, ensures a copy, post free, for each month in the ensuing year.
