PERSONAL.
Mr. and Mrs. Y. McDowell, of Avenue Boad, left to-day on a holiday visit tot Rotorua. Air. Huntley Boss has returned from Te Puke and resumed work at Messrs Boss, Bough and Co’s. Mr. 1 B. A. Johnstone* telegraphist, who has been transferred to Foxton from Balfour to replace Air. L. Bullard, who was promoted to postmaster at Euatoria, commenced duty here tills morning. The late Airs. Alajry Ann Esson, whose death occurred at Pieton last week, at the age of 86 years, was the first white ladv to arrive in Picton, going there with her parents in 1857, when the district was fully occupied by Maoris. For over 70 years the late Airs. Esson had been a continuous resident of the town, and had lived an active life up to within the past year or so.
