VISIT OF THE EMDEN

MINISTER. TO GREET VISITORS. Wellington, Last Night. The Mayor of Auckland (Mr. G: Baildon) Who is in Wellington, had a meeting to-day with the German Consul (Mr. W. Penseler) from which it transpired that the official advice of the forthcoming visit of the GeriUan cruiser Emden, which the Consul sent to Mr. Baildon, had never reached the latter. As a result, the Consul was left in doubt a;s to the attitude which the Auckland City council would take up when Emden arrived. The position is now satisfactorily cleared up. The Minister of Internal Affairs (Hon. P. A. de la Perrelle) will make a special trip to Auckland to represent th|e government fit the ceremonies attendant upon Emden’s arrival. Mr. Perrelle will, on behalf of the State, exchange courtesy calls with the captain of the vessel.
