WOMAN’S FOOLISH ACT.
Before Mr. J. L. Stout, S.M., in the Palmerston North Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, a maiuied woman, whose name was suppressed, was charged that, on June 9, she did attempt to commit suicide at Palmerston North. Accused pleaded guilty. Senior-Sergeant Whitehouse explained that defendant wlis suffering from nerves and had ia lot of domestic trouble. Last week-end defendant had in a fit of depression put a gas tube in her mouth and attempted to take her life.
“One e-an sympathise with defendant” said His Worship. “She has bad trouble to bear and apparently found it too much. However, she has done a very foolish thing. Other people have troubles and fight on 'and she should do the s'ame. She has her family to consider. I must convict her, but no pen'alty is needed. She will be ordered to come up for sentence if called on within the next twelve mouths.”
