At last night’s Borough Council meeting a communication was received from the ‘New Brighton Borough Council asking ithe Council to oppose the Prime Minister’s reported approval of a universal Saturday half-holiday as such would ho detrimental to seaport boroughs. 'Councillors opinions were divided on the matter and an amendment to a auction that the Council is not prepared ait ptresent to express an opinion, was moved by C-i's. Cowley and Robinson to the effect that the Council does not support the New Brighton recommendation. The amendment was carried by six votes to four.
