Christchurch, June 6. •Strong resentment against Sir Joseph Ward’s proposal to increase taxation in order to balance his Budget was expressed by members of the Canterbury Chamber of Commerce to-night. Every speaker declared with eimphasis that the crying need of the country was for economy and reduced taxation.
