Tlio Department of Agriculture lias received the following- cablegram, dated 24t.h instant, from the Miglh Commissioner for New Zealand, London: — Hemp. — Manila market steady and Values slightly improved. Closing values “J” jgrade May-July diipimenit £37 10/-. Steal market firm and advancing. No. 1 fair average quality for JuneAugust .shipment sold £3B to £3B 10/-; good marks £39 10/- fair average quality No. 2 £3O 10/-. New Zealand little better inquiry in sympathy with other hard fibre hut 'buyers ideas still very low. Nominal closing comparative values: —High points, £33; fair, £3l; common, £29; rejected, £27 10/-; tow 2nd grade, £2l; 3rd grade £l7 10/-.
