Manawatu Herald TUESDAY, MAY 21, 1929. SANATORIUM ROAD.
FOR years there has been an agitation to complete the road leading off the main Beach road to the seaside at a bend about a quarter of a mile beyond the stone bridge and which gives access to what was known as the “sanatorium,” the earliest settled portion at the 'seaside. This road, when completed, will also provide quicker and safer access to the seaside and numerous dwellings, avoiding the present eurting, drift sand and high tides along the river foreshore. ‘Such road access, apart from the public conveniences mentioned, is long overdue to those who pioneered settlement at the beach and who are without reasonable road access to their sections. The benefits this road would confer on all concerned would far outweigh the comparntively small cost of construction by the Harbour ißoard.
