SEQUEL TO COLLISION.
At the local S.M. Court this morning 'before Mr. J. L. Stout, S.M., R. Bryant was charged that on March 28th, 1929, at Himatangi, lie negligently drove a motor delivery van on the Himatangi-F oxton main road.
Constable Owen said that on the day in question defendant Avas driving a delivery van in the direction of Foxton Avhen he crashed into the Sandon tram at the Himatangi (Crossing. It Avas raining at the time hut defendant should have had a clear view of the crossing. The van was wrecked and Mjr. Bryant received minor injuries. The train engine whistled prior to reaching the crossing. Robert Btryant said that the road Avas bad at the locality and a drizzling rain was falling at the time. There was only an engine and van which witness crashed into and his vieAV was obscured by gorse and ’lupin. The S.M. said that defendant had evidently sustained fairly severe loss. A fine of £1 with costs 10/Avas imposed.
