A POOR SCHOLAR
Young Cuthlbert had been keeping rabbits as a hobby, and one morning .his father caught sight of him shading one of his animals as though it were a hearth rug. “What ever are you —■ —” he began, and then (paused. His son was repeating a kind of chant. ( “Five and five,” said the email 'boy. “How much are five and live, you little beggar!” “What s the meaning of this, Cuthbert?” asked the astonished -parent. “Well,” explained his son, “MrBrown told me that rabbits multiply very quickly, but this poor blighter ican’t even add!”
