OBITUARY.

SIR JAMES GLENNY WILSON. The death occurred at “Letlienty,” Bulls, .this morning after a •short illness, of Sir James Glenny Wilson, aged 80 years. Deceased was horn at Hawick N. 8., in 1549 and was educated at Edinburgh and London Universities. He arrived in Victoria in 1870 and came to New Zealand in 1874 and engaged in sheep farming in the Rangitikei district. He entered Parliament as mdmber for this district from 1882-90 and was Whip in the Atkinson Government; represented the Palmerston electorate 1890-3 and the Otaki electorate from i893-9fi, when lie retired from politics. ITe has occupied the positions of Pvesidon't of the N.Z. .Farmers’ Union; Agricultural Societies Association; Harvester Trust Inquiry Board; chairman of Partners’ Distributing Co., Dominion Farmers Institute, Chairman of the Manawatu County Council, Palmerston Hospital Board, chairman of the Forestry League, President of the Board of Agriculture, chairman of the hoard (c\ report on the ICawthron Institute, inch liber of the Ma nawaitu-Oroua Power Board etc. He was author of “Early Rangitikei.” Few men have given so much of their time to public activities, and he died in harness. His death will he l'egretled throughout the Dominion.
