PLUNKET SOCIETY
A special meeting of the Plunket Society was held in the Society’s rooms on Tuesday to discuss the site for the proposed new Plunket rooms. There were present: Mcsdames F. Robinson (in the chair), Baker, Edwards, Bain, A. Ross, Doel, Christie, Trueman, Ogilvy, Adams, Borgia and D. R. Barron (lion, secretary). An apology was received from Mrs. Martin.
Mr. Fred. Robinson, delegate from Sports Baby Committee, was in attendance and addressed the meeting, after which it was unanimously decided to accept the site between the new courthouse and Police Station, given by the Justice Department to the Plunket Society through the Sports Committee, subject to approval of incoming Advisory Board. Mrs. Robinson thanked the Sports Committee for their gracious action in handing over the site unconditionally to the Plunket Society, and said that, this thoughtful action would help the Society well along the road it had to travel. It was unanimously decided that some suitable inscription be put on foundation stone in reference to Sports Committee’s action in getting the site for the Plunket Society. r i Final arrangements were then discussed in connection with tonight’s concert and dance, and the afternoon function to be held on May Btk.
A telegram from the Minister of Justice confirming the decision given by him in Fox ton re granting a site for now Plunket rooms was received just after the close of the meeting.
