MiARTON JOCKEY CLUB. WINTER MEETING PROGRAMME. The Marton Jockey Cluib has made a departure from its usual cu’s'tolm of holding two days racing in the 'Sipring and two days in the summer. This year the Cluib decided to hold .one day in September and two days in January, and to hold 'the fourth day on Saturday, May 4'th., which meeting will open the steeplechase season in the Dominion. A very attractive programme has been drawn up for the May meeting, the chief event being an open steeplechase of £3OO, 2£ miles. The open flat everits are the Crofton Handicap of £260, 1} miles, and the Flying Handicap, of £2OO, 6 furlongs. The hacks are well catered for, 'there being the Dash Hack Handicap of £l5O, five furlongs; Winter Hack Handicap, of £175, 1 (indie and 137 yards, and the Farewell Hack Handicap, of £l5O, G furlongs. In addition there is an .open Handicap Hurdles of £175, It miles. Only seven events will be held and the first race will start at 11.45 a.m. Nominations for all events will close with the secretary (Mr A. Way) at Marton on Tuesday, April 10th, at 9 p.m., from whom programmes may be obtained on application. April 12, 13. —Masterton Jockey Club. April 18, 20. —Whangarei Racing Club.
