PERSONAL.
Air J. Lin'klater, M.P. was elected President of the Alauaiwatu and West Coast A. and P. Association ,at the annual meeting of that body yesterday. Air R. Rangiheuea returned to Foxton yesterday, after spending a holiday in the Nelson district, where he attended the annual bowling tournament. Mr C. M. Hewett, manager of the local branch of the C'omimercial Bank of Australia, Ltd., resumed duties this morning after his annual leave. Mr H. G. Gregory, who was acting manager during Mr Hewett’s absence, returned to Palmerston N. last evening.
. The death ha,s occurred at Gisborne of Mr Makarini Taurara Ngata, eldest son of ,the Hon. Sir Apirana Ngata, aged 35, after a brief illness. The deceased was educated at Te Aute .and Hawkesbury, New South Wales. He was managing the Pa'hi station, and was regarded as one of the most promising of the younger generation of Ngatiporou farmers.
