The Hon. A. D. APLeod, accompanied by Airs. APLeod, left on Thursday hy the Ruahine for a trip to England. Mr. Hodge, Education Board architect, visited the local District High school yesterday in connection with the erection of a bicycle shelter. Mr. E. Oa nidus, inspector of Secondary schools, inspected the secondary department of the local District High school on Thursday and yesterday. The death has occurred in Auckland of Air. Harry Logan Campbell Alowlbray, aged 40, a member of the executive of the Land Agents’ Association, a member of the Stock Exchange, the Diocesan Trust Board, and the Auckland Racing Club, states a message from Auckland. After (attending King’s College lie was prominent in athletic circles. He is survived by a wife and two sons.
Sir George Elliott was yesterday elected by the Board of Directors of the Bank of New Zealand as chairman for the ensuing year. He was appointed a Government member of the Board of Directors of the bank by Order-in-Council on Afareh 31, 1920. He .was first elected chairjman by the board on April 1, 1922, and has occupied that posit ion ever since.
