ATHLETIC AND FOOTBALL CARNIVAL.
EASTON PARK ON SATURDAY. For Saturday a grand athletic and football carnival has been arranged by the -Sports Queen Committee to take plaice at Easton Parlb, commencing at 1 p.m. This should prove a popular holiday attraction locally, as pupils of the primary and secondary schools will compete in various -athletic and football contests. The local pupils have proved themselves superior in the field of sport to any schools in the district, being the holders of the Vile Shield, MieKelvie Shield, and Thompson Shield, and should therefore furnish an interesting contest amongst themlselves on Saturday. Miss Margaret Barron, who has .of late made an extensive reputation if or herself in foot events, will compete at tlhis carnival. A silver points medal will ,be awarded for both .boy and girl events. >
The football programme will be worth seeing, and together with, .the tug-of-war (Maoris v. Pakehas), ladies’races, and the numerous side shows, a day of great interest should result. The prices of admission are moderate, viz., adults 1/-, school children 3d.
