FOXTON RUGBY FOOTBALL CLUB.
ANNUAL MEETING. There was an attendance of forty-nine at the; annual meeting of the Foxton Rugby Football Club held in the Town Hall supper-room latt evening, and presided over by Mr. H. Hutchins (president). REPORT AND BALANCE-SHEET. The annual report (previously published) was read together with the balance-sheet) which disclosed a credit balance of £6 14/8. In moving their adoption, the President said that during the year a good deal of money had been expended by the Club which had received very little assistance. Bad times had been encountered and the club had found it necessary to assist players whenever possible. The club's action in this respect had been fully appreciated and the seniors had during the season fulfilled more obligations than during any previous season, which action was appreciated by outside teams and the general public. He was proud of that fact and anticipated that the club Would have a successful year and he hoped that the various teams would be successful in winning the competitions competed for. The motion was seconded by Mr. M. E. .Perreau and carried unanimously. ELECTION OF OFFICERS. The election of offijeers resulted as follows.: — Patron: Mr. J. Linklater, ALP.; president: |Mr. W. S. Heyes; vicepresidents: Messrs H. Hutchins, J. K. • Hornblow, and Frauds Robinson; ectamittee: Messrs F. Robinson, H. Robinson, W. Neville, C. Procter, A. and B. Walls, G. Alexander, K. Hirini, and T. Tuna; secretary and treasurer: Mi-. C. Anderson; auditor: Mr. D. Christie; delegates to annual meeting of the Union: Messrs F. Robinson, W. S. Heyes, and W. Neville; delegate to Union: Mr. E. Robinson; coaches: senior, Mr. F. Robinson; junior, Mr. H. Reid; thirds, Air. W. Andresen; fourths, Mr. W. Neville. The retiring president (Mr. H. Hutchins) congratulated Mr. Heyes on being elected as President of the Club and on vacating the chair to him expressed the hope that the club would have a prosperous year and that their new president would derive as much pleasure from his office as he had done. Personally he was glad to be relieved of the position as he was not now able to devote the necessary time to the work. He had been connected with the club ever, since it was revived after the war and with Mr. J. Desmond was then responsible for the Club being resuscitated. Since then he had held every position except that of secretary and enjoyed the work very much. He did not mind | in the least resigning his position to Mr. Heyes and his'best wishes would always be with the club. In conclusion Air. Hutchins thanked all those who had assisted him during his long term of- office and expressed the hope that the 'people of Foxton would rally around the club and give it every assistance possible. (Applause). All’. Heyes returned thanks for being elected to the position of president and was accorded a round of applause on taking over the chair. He said that while he occupied the position as president of the club he would do everything in his power to advance the interests of the club and football in general. SUBSCRIPTION. It was decided that the subscription for the ensuing year be as follows : Seniors and juniors 5/-, thirds 2/6, fourths 1/-. THANKS. Votes of thanks were accorded the retiring president (Mr. H. Hutcliins) and secretary for their work and interest evinced in the club and to Ali-s. R. Cochran for looking after the club jerseys and gear, and to Airs. J. Walls for use of meeting room. GENERAL. Mi-. W. Neville was elected Club referee. The President and secretary were authorised to operate on the bank account. It was decided to arrange practice matches on Easton Park in aid of the sports candidate in the Plunket Carnival. It 'was resolved to make arrangements for the use of botth the racecourse and Easton Park for fodtball during the coining season and that matches be played on the latter ground whenever possible. It was decided to retain the practice shed during the coming season for the use of club members. Air. G. Woods wrote asking the Club to pay his doctor's expenses in reference to an injury received at the end of last season. Air. Woods was present and said that he had been considerably inconvenienced as a result of a broken wrist sustained last season and said he would move that the Club.pay his doctor’s' expenses, amounting to £3 17/6. The chairman said that Mr. Moods was out of order in moving such a motion. ]t was decided to refer 'the matter to the committee to deal with.
A vote of thanks to the chair ter-' initiated the meeting. COMMITTEE MEETING, At the conclusion of the annual meeting a committee meeting was held, It was decided that the committee meet at Walls every Monday evening at 7 o’clock. The delegate to Union was recommended to endeavour to obtain a grant for Wioods at the next Union meeting, it being decided that the clgb could not eqterfain gny responsibility, ‘
