IF I WERE MARRIED.

planned by a bachelor GIRL. I should taike marriage seriously as a career. I should not expect life to be one idyllic state of happiness. I should see that I Avas nvell up in all branches of Ihousewifery before I met him at the altar. I should be “Martha” all day while he was out, and “Juliet” Avhen he came home. I should try to bring up my children on similes, not tears. I should malke home so attractive and cosy that he would find the club dull and boxing? I should feed him! Wisely and xvell. I should hand over the children to his sole care, sometimes, and let him feel the responsibility of them. I should keep one afternoon or evening a xveek free, and insist that ■he and I got right away from home and family cares. I should try not to be jealous of his friends, and understand that he would like a little male society sometimes. I should not worry him with silly • little household troubles that are soon mended. I should try to see his point of ‘yiexv in elvprything, but 1 shouldn’t become just a cipher. I should hate to “slump” and “settle down.” ' Just because we were married is no reason why we shouldn’t take a reasonable interest in outside affairs. Well-cooked meals, good fires, pretty frocks, and a smiling face—that is what he Avould see when lie came home tired from the office. My marriage might be ideal —but .1 guess I should sometimes wish myself back in my own little flat with my o'wn latchkey!
