THE bi-ennial conference of Hospital Boards’, representative of the whole 'dominion, concluded its session at Palmerston North on Thursday. Perhaps the most important matter dealt with was the decision that Hospital Boards should take over the consumptive sail ataria from the Health Department and provide sufficient accommodation for all requiring treatment and that on the most approved lines. The group system 'Was adopted by the conference. This provides two institutions each for the North and South Islands to be controlled by grouped Boards within the areas. The South Island has already given a lead in this connection. It now remains for the Government to approve the recommendations and render whatever financial assistance ds required to consummate the scheme which, it is sincerely hoped, will ai(m a death blow at this dreadful scourge.
