ALLEGED INDECENT ASSAULT.
accused committed for TRIAL. Percy Vallender, farm labourer, of Rongotea, appeared in the Palmerston North Magistrate s Court yesterday morning charged with committing an indecent assault upon a girl under 16 years of ag*. The offence was alleged to have taken place at Rongotea between January 20 and February 4, the girl concerned being only 11 years of age. On the application of the police, the court was cleared and an order miade for the suppression of the evidence. At the conclusion of the hearing, accused pleaded not guilty and was committed for trial at the next sittings of the Supreme Court in Palmerston North on May 7. Bail was allowed in one surety of £IOO and in self of £IOO.
