The licensing committee election held in Palmerston North on Tuesday resulted in the dive sitting members Messrs W. R. Birnie, C. N. Clausen, W'. F. Dunward, A. J. Graham, and J. M. Johnston (being returned. The two new candidates, Messrs F. C. Ailerby and J. Hodgens, failed to ojbtain seats. The polling was poor, 1326 electors out of approximately 15,500 recording their votes. Mr. Graham headed the poll witli 1044, Mr. Birnie 955, Mr. Durward 958, Mr. Clausen 807, Mr. Johnston 785, Mr. Hodgens 692, Mr. Ailerby 495.
