BUILDING IN PALMERSTON.
PROGRESS WELL MAINTAINED. Indications that building activities, "which have received an impetus lately in Palmerston North, are being maintained are given in the returns for the month just ended, during which the permits issued had a total value of £22,775. The most prominent feature of the returns is the continued attention which is 'being given to the erection of dwellings to meet the demands for hoimes, and permits were obtained for eighteen this month involving an setimated expenditure of £14,710. Sheds and additions to existing dwellings account for £685,
and alterations to business premises for £1546, while entirely new business buildings, including a new garage in Queen Street, have a value of £5834. (Compared with February of last year, the permits issued for building operations this month represent an additional value of £2310, and the amount involved in house building activities .shows an increase of £5975, while the number of permits issued has almost doubled.
