RIVER CONTROL

A MOTION RESCINDED. The Manawatu-Oroua River Board sent a deputation to last night’s meeting of the Palmerston North Borough Council to seek the council’s approval and moral support to their modified schemes of flood control and river protection and to ask the council to rescind its previous negative decision and to select a delegate to the deputation to wait on the Government seeking a £1 for £1 subsidy to enable the Mananvatu-Oroua River Board to proceed with the work. The River Board assured the council that neither the council nor any other public. body save the Manawatu-Oroua River Board would be expected to contribute to the schelme. The previous motion was formally rescinded and Mr. M. A- Eliott was elected as the council’s delegate.
