STOATS AND WEASELS
ERADICATION NOT FAVOURED BY RABBIT BOARD. Members of the Manawatu Rabbit Board do not consider the time is opportune fop the removal of the protection on stoats and weasels as has .recently been suggested by members of a Wellington local body. Trustee Grammar said it was for too soon to kill off stoats and weasels and rabbits Avere by no means eradicated as yet. The Inspector said these animals were the natural enemy of the rabbit and Avere doing valuable work in keeping the cover country clear. The chairman remarked that a stoat or weasel Avould be sure to get the last rabbit. It was decided to forward the following remit to the anhual conference of Rabbit Boards: “That in vieAV of the recent agitation to have the protection removed off stoats and weasels that the matter be placed before the Rabbit Boards concerned and the Department of Agriculture before any steps are taken.”
