Mrs. W. Adams snr., of Wanganui, is at present on a visit to her daughter, Mrs. A. P. Easton, of Foxton. Mr. L. C. Couch has resumed duty at the local branch of the Commercial Bank after being absent on sick leave. Mi’. H. Robinson has resumed duty at the local Post Office after spending his annual holidays in the Taranaki district. The Rev. J. H. Edmondson will leave for : Auckland on Monday to attend the annual Methodist conference. He will be absent about a fortnight. Misses M. and I. W/ilson, of Hunterville, are at present spending a holiday with their aunt, Mrs. J. Hannah, of Thynne Street. Owing to illness Mr. Wm. Timeman, Town Clerk, has been confined to his home during the past few days. He hopes to return to duty on Monday. The chairman (Sir J. G. Wilson) and Mi’. J. K. Hornblow, will- be the Palmerston North Hospital Board delegates to the Hospital Boards’ conference in Palmerston North next month. The death occurred at Masterton on Thursday of Mr. A. McLeod, a brother-in-law of Air. J. Wyeth, of Foxton. Mr. Wyeth left for Masterton on Friday. The veteran Admiral Togo, hero oi' the Russo-Japanese war, is seriously ill. Fears are entertained for the reason that his illness is due to ago. The London “Daily News” states the .Commissioner J. Hay, of New Zealand, is prominently mentioned in Army circles as likely to succeed General Higgins as Chief of Staff. Mr. Arthur Saunders of the Auckland Bible Training Institute, will visit Foxton early next month and will conduct services at the Methodist Church. Airs. Henderson, of Dunedin, who lias been on a visit to Airs, John Ross, of Thynne Street, left to-day for .Wanganui where she will spend a few days prior to returning to the South Island. The Foxton friends of Air. J. Bett will regret to learn that he is still confined to his home in Palmerston North with a serious illness. Prior to removing to Palmerston Air. Bett was resident at the local seaside for a lengthy period. Foxton friends of AH’. Harold Franklaud will congratulate him upon his success as a marksman. At the recent big shoot at Trenthain he was among the King’s fifty and ns a member of the Karori No. 1 team annexed the C.A.C. ammunition cup. AH’. Frankland took a keen interest in the now defunct Rifle Club when resident in Foxton.
