SUCCESSFUL GARDEN PARTY".
The newly-formed Sandon branch of the Plunket Society met with wonderful success in its initial effort to raise funds yesterday, when a garden party was held at Mr. McKelvie’s charming homestead at Carnarvon, in delightful weather. People weft present from Hunterville, Feilding, Palmerston N., Foxton and the surrounding district. Among those present was Mr. J. Linklater, M.P. The beautifully laid-out grounds presented an animated scene. The lawns were occupied with tennis, croquet and putting competitions while stalls w ere placed in sheltered nooks. Afternoon tea was dispensed in the spacious veranda. Mr. J. 11. Perrett, on behalf of the president (Mrs. Perrett) thanked all who had assisted in making the effort such a splendid success which would enable the branch to carry on for some years. Cheers vverol heartily given at the call .of Mr. Linklater M.P., for Mr. and Mrs. McKelvie, the president (Mrs. Perrett) and committee.
