WILFUL DAMAGE.

YOUTHS BEFORE COURT. At the local S.M. Court this morliing before Mr. J. L. Stout, G.M., Vincent Harold Hofmann and Andrew Perry, two youths aged 17 years, were charged with on December 31st, 1928, at Manawatu Heads, wilfully damaging a tent valued at 30/-. In connection with the above a lad under 16 also appeared before the Juvenile Court, similarly charged. All entered pleas of guilty.

In evidence Constable Bell stated that just prior to midnight on New Year’s Eve a complaint was received to the effect that a party of youths were causing wilful damage at the local seaside. Witness visited the beach and caught the accused who had cut and slashed a tent, the property of A. J. Hansen and K. C. Tlislop, of Palmerston North.

The S.M. in ordering the accused to pay 10/- each towards the cost of the damage done, said that he would let accused off lightly on this occasion but they would not be treated so leniently if they came before the court again.
