A BENEFACTRESS.
Wellington, Last Night. The late Madame Joseph Ames, after giving [specific legacies to a large number of relatives and friends, has left varying amounts to various causes, including £2OO to the Wellington Seamen’s Mission, six pictures to the New Zealand Academy of Fine Arts, and £IOO, £3OO 'towards the Wellington Anglican Cathedral, £2OO to the Free Kindergarten, £2OO to th eMarsden school for prizes in connection with housekeeping, £4OO to found an annual scholarship for a girl Who through necessity might be unable to continue her education at Wellington East College, and £2OO for Ames memorial prizes at St. Mark’s Church day school. Others to benefit are the Wellington Zoo (£IOO to purchase animals), the Salvation Army, Mother Mary Joseph Aubert’s Home for Incurables, and other institutions.
