RECENT INCIPIENT FIRE.
NOT CAUSED BY FUSING OF ELECTRIC WIRES.
In our last issue we reported that the incipient fire which occurred at Mr. Alex. Ross’s residence on Wednesday evening was probably caused by the fusing of the electric light wires in the ceiling. The outbreak was in the ceiling near the 'manhole.
Superintendent Stevenson and Deputy Superintendent Reid of the local Fire Brigade, made a 'careful examination of the electric wiring immediately after the outbreak, and the lights were switched on and found o.k. and the conduct and wiring were intact and, further, the outbreak was not in close proximity to any electrical wiring. A subsequent careful inspection by Mr. Jack, the Power Board’s inspector, also bears out the above statement.
The Power Board’s inspection of all electric light wiring is .most exacting and the public need have no fear of fires in this connection.
