FOXTON RACING CLUB.

ANNUAL MEETING. CUP W(ON BY BLIMP. Tire .first clay of the annual meeting of the Foxton Racing Clulb was held yesterday in ideal summer weather. The attendance was in excess of that for the corresponding day last year. The totalisator handled £17,364 as against £12,179 for , the corresponding day last year, an inrcease of £5,185. There was a certain amount of misgiving as to the wisdom of changing the dates hut the change over as indicated by yesterday’s attendance and investments is not going to prejudice the meeting but will rather add to its popularity. The course was in splendid order and the racing reflected credit upon the judgment of the handicapper Mr. W. 'P. Russell. A special word of praise is due to the stewards, officials and secretary (Mr. .T. Martin) for the thoroughness of the arrangements. Results : POROUTAWIIAO HACK HURDLES, of 140 sovs., second horse to receive 20 sovs,, and third horse 10 sovs. from the Stake. Over 6 flights of hurdles 3ft. 6in high. Rash, Deluge and II vines tea son got away well from the start. Asleep came to grief at the Ist hurdle. Coming into the stand straight Rash was leading by a . couple of chains which advantage lie retained until reaching the hack straight when Hymestrason came up. The field was well strung out along the hack straight but coming into the stand straight Hymestra - son came up fast with Deluge and a fine finish, was witnessed, Hymestrason winning by a neck, a similar distance between Rash and Deluge. Snow-shoe and Acredity were smartest to get away followed by Nassetle, Star Girl, Warzone and Bione. The latter moved behind-the two leaders crossing the top and Snowslioe dropped back at the straight entrance. The favourite 'turned for home ahead of Bione. Nasselle, Snowslioe and Basalonia. Acredity weakened over the final stretch and within 30" yards of the post Warzone looked a winner, but Star Girl put in a sprint and won from Warzone by a neck with Bon Acre a long neck behind. Bione was fourth with Acredity, Nasselle, Snoiwsivoe, Painting and Otoimi next to finish. FOXTON CUP, of 400 sovs., (including Silver Cup value 100 sovs., presented by the Committee) ; second horse to receive 50 sovs., and third horse 25 sovs. from the Stake. Won by three lengths, two lengths between second and third. Kalos was fourth. Time 2.8 2-5. Night march was an eleventh hour withdrawal. Toxeuma was favourite with Lady Limond and Teri next in order. Blimp found the track to his liking and produced his old form and won nicely from Maui, who made a promising debut. Blimp was first out from the barrier, but gave way to Teri passing the straight. At the hack Blimp ran into second place. At the halfmile post Blimp closed up with Teri .with Lady Limond and Maui coming through. Blimp went to the front and although Maui finished strongly the leader was not troubled and won by a length and a half with Toxeuma two lengths behind Maui. Kalos was fourth with Twink, Lady ,

Limtond and Discourse ahead of Teri.

At the conclusion of' the race the handsome euip, donated by the Foxton Racing Club, was presented. In the absence of Dr Louisson, Mr of Palmerston N., his brother, accepted the cup at the hands of the President (Mr W. E. Barber), who congratulated the rider and Mr Louisson on their win. Mr Louisson suitably replied and cheers were given for the winner and the .donors of the cup. A field of seven faced the starter with Dermod favourite. First Ruler and White Ringlet raced in line for the first furlong with Warfille and Royal Black in the rear. Crossing the top Warfille passed the leaders to turn for home ahead of Second Thought and White Ringlet, with Royal Black coining fast from the rear. White Ringlet joined issue with Warfille in the straight and the pair -passed the post to-r-ethev with Warfille ahead to the good, Royal Black a length and ahalf back in third place. At the five furlong post Decoy Bird ran to the front from Lin Arlington, but Henna and Vigilance also made forward moves, the order at the entrance being Decoy Bird, who Avas just in front of Lin Arlington, Henna and Vigilance. Decoy Bird retired at the distance Avhere Henna dreAv clear and, although challenged by Bright Day, the favourite (Vent on to win nicely by half a length with Lin Arlington a length ami a half behind Bright Day. Vigilance Avas fourth with Decoy Bird next, Wilderness baling suffered a recurrence of his old trouble half a!-mile from home.
