GAS WORKS.

NOVEMBER WORKING. At Monday night’s meeting of the Borough Council, the gas manager reported as follows: — The amount of gas manufactured during the month of November was 338,600 ft., which with the amount in the holder on November Ist .16,500 ft. made a total of 355,100 ft. During the month 287,400 ft. was used by consumers, 20,000 ft. at the works and there was 17,000 ft. in the holder on November 30th, making a total of 324,400 ft. accounted for and leaving 30,700 ft. representing 9.2 per cent, unaccounted for. Thirty tons of coal were carbonised, yielding 11,280 e.ft. of gas to the ton and producing 7 tons of coke. The receipt for the month totalled £164 16s 4d and were made up as follows: —Gas sales (lighting) £2l Is 6d, heat and power £lll 13s 9d, coke sales £9 11s 9d, tar sales £l7, services and fittings £4 10s 4d, miscellaneous 19/-. The expenditure for the month totalled £203 10s 6d and' was made up as follows: —Coal £B4 5s od, salaries and wages £45 14s Od, services and fittings £5 3s 3d, tools £1 2s Od, engine oil 4/2, telephone £3 10s Od, sundries 4/10, Interest and Sinking Fund £63 7s 3d. The plant a't the works was. functhe plant at the works was functioning satisfactorily. Several blocked services were cleaned during the month and one new service put in.—Adopted.
