The 1029 championships in connection with the Manawatu tennis tournament at Palmerston North, have been decided as follows: Men’s Singles: C. E. Malfroy (Wellington). Ladies’ Singles: Miss D. Nieholls (Wellington). Men’s Doubles: Griffiths .(Auckland) and Rhodes Williams (Wellington) . Ladies’ Doubles: Mrs Adams (Wellington) and Miss Myers (Wanganui). In the mixed doubles match Malfroy and Miss M. Preedy defeated C. Procter and Miss Whyte, (1 —0,
6—2. In the handicap games, D. Robertson and Mass V. Nieholls (rec. 15) defeated C. Procter and Miss Whyte (rec. 8), 60 —53 in the second round of the mixed doubles. McMurray and Miss McMurray (rec. 22) won from Prebble and Miss Nieholls (scr.) by default.
In the third round 'Stedman and Miss MciCrea (rec. 8) defeated McMurray and Miss McMurray (rec. 22), 60—39. The tournament was continued yesterday when the local representative, Mr. C. Procter defeated his opponent in the handicap singles and thereby won the semi-final. The results of play were as follows: — CHAMPIONSHIPS. Mixed doubles:—Final: Lampe and .Miss Myers heat Malfroy and Miss Preddy 6 —3, 4 —6, 6 —4. HANDICAP GAME’S. Men’s singles:—‘Final: Entwistle (minus 5) heat Forbes (rec. 5) 65 —55. Ladies’ singles. —Final: Miss McCrea (rec. 15) heat Miss D.

MANAWATU CHAMPIONSHIPS. •Men’s singles:— Semi-finals: Procter beat D. Robertson 7—5, 6—3. Final: McDonald and Procter will play off on January 19.
