HIGHWAYS CONSTRUCTION.

POXTON-HIM! AT AN GI SECTION. At yesterday’s meeting .of the Manawatu lOounty Council, the act-ing-engineer (Mr. H. V. Bond) reported on the Foxton-Himatangi section' of the main highway as follows : . Tenders were called for sections of the formation work on tins road, hut none of these were accepted. The work is now being carried out by day labour. A contract has been let for the quarrying and loading of metal at the Terrace End pit, and metalling operations will be commenced in about a week’s time. The gang of workmen on the above road are making rapid piogress and familiar sandhills along portion of the road have been levelled and depressions filled. Most of the men employed belong to Foxton.
