FOXTON LUNCH CLUB.

ADDRESS BY MR. WATERS. The second meeting of the Foxtou Lunch Club was held in Mr. Hinds’ restaurant to-day, presided oyer |by Mr. M. E. Perreau. The speaker for the occasion was Mr. W:. A. Waters, A.M.1.E.E., of Palmerston North. There were also present: Messrs Win. Trueman, D. Christie, J. Newton, F. A. Mason, D. R. Ogilvy, S. 11. Poole, Revs. W. H. Walton and Edmondson, A. E. Tongs, A. E. Scott, C. M. Hewett, A. Osborne, L. Stevens, W. E. Bullard, Murray, W. S. Heyes, 0. Fraser, Giblett, Gaibett and R. Hornblow. Mr. Perreau extended a welcome to the speaker and also to Mr. J. Aitchiston, of Foxton. Mi'. Waters took for his subject “A Trip Across America” and spoke in a most interesting manner of his trip. America he styled as one of the most interesting countries and one full of contrasts. The people were great workers and it was wonderful to visit their cities and obtain an insight into their factories and large manufacturing concerns. The people themselves were wonderfully hospitable and the true American should not be confused with the loud-talking and boastful

type one so often comes into contact with. The true American, the descendant of British stock, was just as quiet and unassuming as any Britisher. Mr. Waters touched on life in Los Angeles, the home of the “movies,” roading, fruit and oil concerns and gave a brief sketch of a visit to the Ford and HudsonEssex motor ear factories. At the conclusion of his address Mr. Waters was accorded a vote of thanks by Mr. F. A. Mason. 'The luncheon concluded with a vote of thanks to the chair.
