TO CITIZENS OF FOXTON AND DISTRICT: In wishing you all the Compliments of the Season, I desire in the first instance, to congratulate everyone interested in the welfare and prosperity of our town and district on the splendid manner in which the business of the town has been conducted during the past year. Although it cannot be denied that we, like other towns, have passed through a lean period, our prospects for the coming year are indeed bright. The depression in the flaxmilling industry seems to have lifted - and the mills are once again in full swing, absorbing practically all the unemployed. Further afield one can easily isee the great improvement in the farming lands, both in the town and beyond . 'Bounteous rains and bright sunshine have combined to produce ample feed for pastoral and grazing purposes, while the market reports indicate that good prices will undoubtedly be realised for our primary produce. I can confidently say that either a butter or cheese factory will be established here in the near future. To the parents I would point out that the business' houses in Foxton offer all the requirements essential to modern demands for domestic services; to the children I would explain that their parents have had in m ! any cases to face a severe financial strain during the winter, and to make allowances for this; to the young people I say enjoy yourselves while you can, but still take thought for the future; to the business people I.say, let the spirit of Christmas be with you in all your business dealings; and lastly, I wish you, one and all, a really Happy Christmas and a Bright and Prosperous New Year. M. E. PERREAU, Mayor. lll!lllllll»llllllllllllllllllllllllllC]llllllllllll[]llll!illllllUllilllllllll[]||||||||||||E]|||i|||||||iUH||||||||||t]|||j||||||||(]||llllillUIUlf
