FOXTON TENNIS CLUB
COMMITTEE MEETING. A committee meeting of the Foxton Tennis iClub was held at the residence of Mr. L. €. Bryant on Monday evening. 'There were present, Mr. L. C. Bryant (President) in the chair, and Messrs Wi. Roach, J. L. C. Procter (secretary), Mrs. L. Bryant, and Misses Haydock and L. Thompson. Apologies for absence were received from Misses G. Neylon, M. Stevenson, M. Denton and Mr. E. Petersen. CORRESPONDENCE was read and dealt with as follows : From the headmaster of the District High School, conveying thanks for the use of the courts for the Thompson Shield tournament. —Received. From the Town Clerk, as follows: “I am directed to write to you pointing out that the practice of parking motor cars in Johnstqn Street must cease. , * This street is not very wide, part of it taken up with the drain along the western boundary, and a serious accident is likely to occur if cars are parked in the street. On the other hand if the cars are parked along the Avenue Road frontage of the Club’s grounds, no exception will be taken, so long as the parking is done systematically.
The letter created considerable discussion but it was eventually decided to practically ignore it and to- park cars in future on the western side of Johnston Street only in future. A vote of thanks was accorded to Messrs L. IC. Bryant and E. Petersen fjor loaning care for the purpose of gathei'ing pungas to be used in the erection of a pavilion. A sewing bee was arranged amongst the lady members for the purpose of mending the nets.
