PERSONAL.
Although 88 years of age, Mr. John Ivebbell, of Levin, the chairman of the ManaAvatu (Foxton) Racecourse Trustees, scorns the assistance of glasses for reading and in conducting the business of meetings reads the minutes and reports, etc., himself. He takes a live interest in all matters pertaining to the Avelfare of the district and never finds any trouble to A r isit Foxton on racecourse matters.
The Earl of Liverpool, Avho Avas GoA'ernor-General of New Zealand from 1912 to 1920, and the Countess of Liverpool are on board the Remuera, due to reach Wellington on or about 30th December. On arrival they Avill be the guests of Their Excellencies the GovernorGeneral and Lady Alice Fergusson for a Aveek or so, and will then leave for? visits in the South Island, returning to Wellington during the second Aveek in February. Subsequently, they will visit Rotorua and other parts of the North Island, leaving Auckland on 12th March on the return journey to England.
