Rates to the amount of £42,040 have been received by the New Plymouth Borough Council this ' week, rush being due principally to the desire of ratepayers to avoid the penalty. At noon yesterday only £3014 was outstanding. Of the total of £67,692 levied in rates for last year only £29 is outstanding.
