CITIZENS’ LUNCH CLUB.
A LOCAL INNOVATION. For some time past a citizens’ lunch l club has been mooted locally. The object of which would be to enable business and professional men and citizens occasionally to meet for a social chat during lunch hour and to hear brief addresses on topics of interest. Such a club has heen in existence in Palmerston North for some time and is now a permanent and successful institution. Luncheons are. held once a week. The Levin Chamber of Commerce hold a luncheon on similar lines once a month. The Mayor (Mr. M. E. Perreau) has approached local business men with the suggestion that Fjoxton should fall into line and the project has met with approval. It is proposed to hold the inaugural lunch next Thursday and Mr. Jas. Stevens, the hon. secretary and life member of the Palmerston Lunch Club, has accepted an invitation to be present and deliver the first address. ■Some further particulars will be furnished later.
