INCREASING USE OF ELECTRIC CURRENT.

MOTORS MUCH IN DEMAND. Reporting to the Horowhenua Power Board last week, the engineer (Mr. J. A. Smith) stated that, since last meeting, 22 applications from new consumers and 27 for extensions to existing installations had been received, comprising eight ranges, live water-heaters, three milking motors, live industrial motors, and four pumping motors. Twentylive new consumers and 25 extensions had been connected, including V'ig'ht ranges, 12 water-heaters, \eight milking and separating motors, and six industrial motors, making a total of 134.655 k.w. connected during the period. The chairman (Mr. G. A. Monk) remarked that the applications from new consumers, and for extensions, were very satisfactory. It might have been expected that, month by month, a slight falling off would be noticeable, but this month there had been ,a slight increase in the demand for electricity:
