FIRST ROUND OF TRIANGULAR

SHIELD. The first round of the Triangular Shield competition was played on the local green yesterday in excellent weather. The green was in good condition and an enjoyable time was spent by those present. The Foxton teams were considerably weakened by the absence of Messrs W. Nye, J. Thomson and S. Mattar. Play resulted as follows : Foxton: —J. Newth, E. Parkin, John Ross, Christie (s) 22 v. Shannon: Wilkinson, Mason, Clayton, Knowles (s) 15. Foxton: — Scadden, Stevenson, W/alton, Heyes (s) 12 v. Levin: Routley, Challies, Hawke, Bull (s) 24. Foxton: —F. Robinson, M. Newth, M. Walker, F. Woods (s) 17 v. Otaki: Amyes, Palmer, Smith, Satherley (s) 21. 'Foxton’s average was 17.
