Manawatu Herald THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 22, 1928 COTTAGE GARDENS.
ONE of the many commendable features in connection with the activities of the local Horticultural Society’s show is the endeavour to stimulate interest-in useful and beautiful home surroundings by the cultivation of nicely ]aid out vegetable and garden plots. The object of this is not only beneficial to the householder but adds to the attractiveness of the town and the friendly competitive spirit engendered among growers is distinctly educational. We hope public spirited residents will assist the society to develop the cottage garden movement. There is nothing more restful and charming' that a well laid out garden even though the dwelling may not boast architectural ornateness. In this connection alone the society justifies its existence and commands support and encouragement.
