Whitebaiters are still catching the fish in the Grey river, though very little of the delicacy is on sale in the town, the latest price being 3/G per pint in Greymouth. Among the Australian shearers who commenced work in Wanganui sheds last week i£ one fresh from a large run many miles inland from the New South Wales coast where rain has not been experienced for nine months. An example of the audacity of youth was heard in the Children’s Court at Stratford when it was narrated that a boy who was charged with the theft of a bicycle lamp had stolen the lamp, and then, when it was in turn stolen from him, coolly reported his loss to the police.
