There has been.a decrease in the incidence of scarlet fever in the Auckland health district during the past few weeks. A German engineer is constructing a giant motor car, 125 ft. long, to be used in the Sahara Desert. It will carry enough petrol to last a month. The Rev. C. Carr, M.P., for Timaru, is also - known as a journalist and author, and was an entertainer and radio announcer for station 3YA. The Cheltenham Co-op. Daii’y Co. directors have decided that the payout for butterfat sent in during October will be at the rate of 1/5 i per lb. A large Presbyterian Bible class convention will be held in, Hamilton at Christmas. Permission to use the Hamilton East School for accommodating the visitors has been granted. In respect of the Canterbury electorates it is found that 36,999 votes were cast for United candidates, 34,663 for Reform and 35,976 for Labour. Iu Honolulu a great deal of New Zealand butter is in use, although it carries a duty of 4d per lb. New Zealand apples are also in demand. It is highly probable that South Africa will accept the invitation of Australia to send a cricket-team there in the 1931-32 season. New Zealand rabbits were for sale in a shop window in Honolulu recently at 1/3 per lb. Generally speaking, the United Party has made its progress iu the rural districts, at the expense of Reform.
