S.M. COURT.
MONTHLY MEETING. The usual monthly sitting of the local S.M. Court was held on Thursday before Mr. J. L. Stout, S.M. CIVIL CASES. Judgment was given for plaintiff in the following civil undefended, cases: — H. Osborne v. J. F. Vogt, claim £1 Gs 2d, costs 10/-; Commissioner of Taxes v. M. Barton, £2 9s lOd, costs 8/-; E. G. Fairey v. A. E. McKenna, £2 9s Id, costs £1 3s fid; C. A. Pearson v. R. B. Bell and Co. Ltd., £1 2s fid, costs 8/-; E. J. Murphy v. H. B. Cresswell, £5 3s fid, costs £1 12s. fid; The Home Supply Co. Ltd., v. S. Robinson, £l7 11s Od, costs £2 lfis Od. JUDGMENT SUMMONSES. Charles Nelson was ordered to pay J. S. Hornblow £4 12s 6d forthwith, in default four days’ imprisonment, warrant suspended as long as defendant pays £1 per month. Ivere Carter was ordered to pay E. R. Booth £lO 14s 9d forthwith, in default 10 days’ imprisonment, warrant suspended as long as defendant pays £2 per month. J. Marriett was ordered to pay M. E. Perreau £lB 5s 7d forthwith, in default 14 days’ imprisonment, warrant suspended as long as defendant pays 10/- per month. ADJOURNED CIVIL CLAIM; In the adjourned civil claim, A. E. Smith v. P. Baldwin, evidence for which was heard last court day, was terminated. During the interval the buildings involving in dispute were inspected and cornparthc dispute were inspected and compared with, the plans. Further evidence was tendered by plaintiff at the conclusion of which judgment was entered in his favour. BY-LAW CASES. V. Baylis, charged with' cycling after dark without a light, was fined 10/- with costs 5/- with similar fine and costs on a charge of failing to have his cycle equipped with a rear reflector. L. McCarthy, Fred. Robinson, D. Purcell and J. N. Manner were each fined 10/- with costs 14/- for allowing stock to wander on county roads, on the information of the Manawatu Traffic Inspector (Mr. Wm. Berry). * MAINTENANCE ORDER. Application was made for a maintenance order against A. E. Smith in respect to a child which was committed to a State home last Court day. Mr. Bergin, for defendant, said that an order had been made against Smith for the maintenance of the'child in 1923. Defendant bad paid £4l by weekly instalments and had then paid over a sum of £IOO cash. Defendant was finding it hard to obtain work and had not done anything for some time. Evidence on the above lines was tendered by Smith. The S.M. said the child had been committed to a State institution and someone would have to pay for its maintenance. An order for 10/- per week was made accordingly.
