Manawatu Herald TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 13, 1928. THE LAST SHOTS FIRED.
THE last shots have been fired in the political campaign and electors are ready to east their votes. So far as this electorate is concerned, each candidate has been given a fair hearing and there has been a complete absence of personalities. So that whatever the result, opponents can meet as friends. The meetings throughout this electorate have not been largely attended — except those addressed by the Prime Minister —which can be taken to indicate satisfaction with the present party in power. Fear, however, has been expressed in some quarters that a split in the ■Reform vote will jeopardise the success of Mr. Linklater, the official Reform candidate. . But from ,careful enquiry throughout the electorate, we are able to say that the Independent candidate will not create any appreciable slide. As polling day draws near Reform ranks are closing up in loyal support of the official candidate. The, course of safety and prosperity for this Dominion lies in the continuance of the Government in office and to this end we advise electors to vote Linklater.
