VOTE SPLITTING IN THE MANAWATU.
(To the Editor). Sir, —You published a letter from a writer signing l himself “Te Kooti” in a recent issue of your paper. It was a transparent and cunningly divised move to split votes. Mr. Linklater has not lost or forfeited the confidence of Reform supporters, despite “Te Kooti’s” imaginings. In 1922 Mr. Linklater’s majority was 1470; in 1925 his majority was 2074, so he actually polled 604 more votes in his second appeal to the people than he did in the first appeal. This doesn’t look like lost confidence, does it? In the face of these figures Mr. Linklater could hardly be expected to stand down for any man, because they prove beyond a doubt that his services as member for the district had won him increased support from his first term of office. I think on the 14th inst., he will have a still bigger majority. I am, etc., TE RAUPARAHA. AN APPRECIATION. (To the Editor). Sir, —Will you allow me space in your paper to express my own and the Moutoa residents thanks and appreciation to Mr. J. Linklater, M.P., for his splendid services in connection with the re-opening of our post office and in connection with our roads. We want to make, it public that at a time like this we do not overlook what Mr. Linklater has done for us and our district. Thanking you in anticipation. Yours etc., E. PIGQTT, Moutoa.
