TOWN HALL. “The Climbers,” a Warner Master .Picture, starring Irene Rich, supported by a large, and distinguished cast, is the attraction at the Town Hall on Friday. The piece is from the play by Clyde Finch and was pieturised by Tom Gibson. Paul L. Stein directed. “The Climbers” is a story of the havoc wrought bv a “climber’’ in the Court of Ferdinand VII of Spain, who, in the ruthlessness of her ambition, caused the disgrace and banishment of the Duchess of Arrogan. The final scenes are laid in the part of America, then known as New Spain. “The Climbers ’ is a thrilling melodrama well written, well filmed, well directed and splendidly acted. Usual prices. Conrad Vcidt, noted European film star, males hA debut in Ame-rican-made pictures at the Town Hall on Saturday, when the Univer-sal-Jewel production, “A Man’s Past,” has its loeal premiere with Veidt in the starring role. “A Man’s Past” is a screen version of the Hungarian play “Diploma” and was directed by George Melford. ROYAL. The big attraction at the Royal on Saturday next will be “The Circus of Life.” A vivid and sensational drama of Russia under the Cznrist regime etched by a master hand and set amidst a vast panorama of life that surges with tender love and terrible bate. It tells of a beautiful girl of lowly birth, who, to save embarrassing her young husband, scion of a noble house, accepts a sentence to Siberia, and faces untold privations. The scenes in Russia, the raid on the Nihilist headquarters, the terrible hardships endured by the prisoners sentenced to exile in Siberia, are some of the most vividly realistic ever depicted in any drama of Russia. Prices 9d and 1/6. Children 3d and Gd. Pictures will be screened at the Royal on Wednesday 14th (election night),'the attraction being the Bebe Daniel’s feature, “The Fiftyfifty Girl.”
